We have received a very limited quantity of this Longjing from this year's first harvest. Therefore, we are selling it only in 50-gram packages.
Also known as Dragonwell, this authentic Longjing comes from Hangzhou. The tea is harvested before the fifth of April, the Qingming Festival, and is therefore allowed to be called Mingqian tea. These early harvests are also highly popular in China, which makes it rare to enjoy a true spring Longjing in this part of the world.
Only the delicate buds and the first leaf are plucked, giving a fine yet intensely flavored green tea. Nutty and lightly sweet tones are complemented by mild roasted aromas and hints of water chestnut, lily, and orchid. The leaves are evenly shaped, have the characteristic yellow-green color, and are beautifully flat due to the gentle pan-frying process.
Longjing Hangzhou - green tea
ORIGIN
The tea is harvested by Zi'an, whose plantations are located in Xiaoshan, just south of West Lake. Tea from this region is called Qiantang or Hangzhou Longjing, and only here is authentic Longjing grown.
West Lake in Hangzhou provides an ideal climate for Longjing tea cultivation, with mild, rainy weather and temperatures ranging between 10°C and 20°C during the harvest season. The high humidity and low solar radiation in the area result in higher levels of amino acids and lower levels of tea polyphenols, giving the tea its fresh taste and high nutritional value.
